Journey Overview:
This tour highlights the seminal sites and sceneries of central India; right through from Delhi to Agra and the world famous Taj Mahal but also the lesser known treasures of Madhya Pradesh in Central India. Discover the real treasures of India. After a brief stay in Delhi, visit Agra and the majestic Taj Mahal, imposing Agra Fort and astounding 16th century remains of Fatehpur Sikri. Then journey to the charming city of Bhopal, the ancient Buddhist stupa at Sanchi, and the ancient rock shelters at Bhimbetka, famed for their stunning rock art. The fascinating journey ends with a stay in a wonderful 18th century fort in the village of Maheshwar, and a visit to Mandu, a 15th century marvel of early Islamic architecture.
Itinerary Highlights:
Day 01: Arrive in Delhi and check into your preferred hotel.
Day 02 : Take a private sightseeing tour of Old and New Delhi, and a rickshaw ride through the markets at Old Delhi. Overnight at Delhi.
Day 03: Drive to Agra via Fatehpur Sikri. Wonder at the Taj Mahal and the Agra Fort . Overnight at Agra Day
04: Fly to Bhopal. Overnight at Bhopal
Day 05: Take a private tour of Bhopal, & also private excursions to Sanchi - home to the famous Stupas built by Emperor Ashoka and Bhimbetka - where ancient rock shelters with carved walls and paintings can be gazed at.
Day 06: Drive to Maheshwar. Overnight at Maheshwar
Day 07: Private day excursion to Mandu, home to the legend of love between the fascinating Rani Roopmati - a Hindu and Baz Bahadur - a Mughal. Overnight at Maheshwar
Day 08: Take a private tour of Maheshwar - visit the textile town which is home to the famous Maheshwari weave patronized 250 years ago by Rani Ahilyabai. Take a boat ride to Baneshwar, a temple in the middle of the river Narmada. Overnight at Maheshwar.
Day 09: En route to Indore for a connection to Delhi, visit Omkareshwar.
Day 10: Fly back home
